Kublacon

Posted on February 28th, 2006 in Gaming by geek

Well… I went ahead and registered for Kublacon, which is one of the bigger gaming cons out there in the Bay Area.  I usually go every year with a bunch of friends to go and get my yearly Shadowfist fix.  This year, I’m not so sure.  I mean I’m just a little burnt out on the game, and I haven’t touched my decks since last year.  Now don’t get me wrong, I’ll still go and bring a bunch of decks to hang out with all the people that come out for the tournies… But I think John and I might go with the: bring as many board games as we can and see who wants to play strategy.  I still need to book my room for the con.

So if anyone out there has plans to go to Kublacon, and wants me to bring a specific game or to arrang some fist games or something, drop me a line.

The closing of a chapter.

It’s official. Kate and I are no longer together. We finally buried it after a week and an a half of awkward silence, trying to pretend the other didn’t exist. In some ways, I’m happy. I mean, I loved her… I really did. And I know she loved me, but we both kind of knew that things just wouldn’t work out. So I’m glad that it ended civilly. We went out to lunch at one of our old standbys, Ali Baba’s for their tasty Monday special and kind of had one last meal as a couple. And so ends a 1 year, 7 month, 18 day and approximately 2 hour chapter in my life. She was my first, and as such, will always be remembered.

I’ll miss you Kate, hopefully I didn’t leave any socks at your place. Give mini a scratch for me once in a while.

I’m thinking something like 25/26/0 or something nutsy stupid like this smite build (32/19/0).

ZOMG! New Priest Talents out today!

Wow. All I can say is wow… Makes me want to dust off my 60 priest and start farming again.
Since everyone is flocking to the boards, I’ll give a mirror of the original post.

New Site Addition: Board game list

Posted on February 21st, 2006 in Gaming by geek

I play a lot of board games.  I like them.  Though I don’t like most of the “classics” like Monopoly.  I perfer games for gamers, ones that have strategy and depth, rather than coinflips.  So I decided to add to my site, a list of games that I know how to play and own, just in case somewhere out there there’s a gamer looking for a game; he can look me up and we can set up a gaming session or something.  I built the list off the top of my head so it will be evolving.

New Trick for those of you with Dual monitors!

Posted on February 21st, 2006 in Geeky Stuff, World of Warcraft, Gaming by geek

While I’m at home, doped up because I threw out my back, I found a neat trick.  I run dual montiors off a ATI Radeon X800 card.  When World of Warcraft first came out, if you tried to load WoW with the dual montiors on, it would screw up the frame buffers and things wouldn’t work right.  Well sometime between here and there, they fixed that.  I can now run the game in 1 monitor, and have useful things like my Ventrilo window and my AIM and a map or something on the other.  Really makes the time sinky things in the game, like waiting for slow poke group members or flying between Moonglade and Thunder Bluff less boring.

If only my server (Silver Hand) wasn’t down for emergency maintainence…

Bad Geek! Just abandon your readers (as if I had any) for a week!

Sigh… I’ve been bad… I should have been updating this thing… but I was having too much fun and stuff…. well. Not really. Been in a lot of pain. You see… I injured my back on Tuesday; straight up threw the thing out. By the way… this really really hurts. Don’t do it.

Calendar-> A quest for people to know where I am

Posted on February 14th, 2006 in Geeky Stuff by geek

So I was thinking, it would be cool for people to be able to figure out whats going on in my life. So I’m trying out syncing my outlook calendar to the web. I’m thinking this might be overkill. I’ll try it for a while… it’s not quite pretty…

Wordpress slow?

Posted on February 13th, 2006 in General by geek

Well.. I haven’t posted very much in the last couple of days, mostly because i found WP slow. I mean, it would take me in upwards of 15 seconds to load my pages. I did a couple of google searches on it, but didn’t really come up with anything really compelling. Has anyone else experienced the slowness of WP? I know my friend EmLee said it was slow for her too. i went ahead and went with the major fix for the technologically clueless. Reinstall the damn thing. Deleted all the files and then re-uped them. BTW: for those of you who haven’t figured it out, the built in ftp client in WinXP is even slower than Wordpress. That’s what I get for uploading it from a machine that wasn’t mine. For the most part… I think its a bit faster, but that might be me being forgetful of how slow it was before.
I’m going to try to separate this blog out into actual categories rather than just have everything be uncatorgized.
