What if people bought cars like they buy computers?

What if people bought cars like they buy computers?
General Motors doesn’t have a “help line” for people who don’t know how to drive, because people don’t buy cars like they buy computers - but imagine if they did…

Helpline:
“General Motors Helpline, how can I help you?”
Customer:
“I got in my car and closed the door, and nothing happened!”
Helpline:
“Did you put the key in the ignition and turn it?”
Customer:
“What’s an ignition?”
Helpline:
“It’s a starter motor that draws current from your battery and turns over the engine.”
Customer:
“Ignition? Motor? Battery? Engine? How come I have to know all of these technical terms just to use my car?”

Intriguing, in a philosophical/theological bent:
Is God’s Goodness objective or subjective?

I’ll probably edit this post later on what I think.

I want a professor that does this:

Design and Layout

Posted on February 20th, 2007 in General by geek

I keep flip-flopping on how to lay this site out. I mean… as is, it breaks on smaller windows. It looks awful in my laptop (which runs at 1024×768), but looks great on something like a wide screen monitor or something in the 1600×1200 category.

It seems like only yesterday that we were designing for 1024×768 or 800×600. Now we’re like… well.. most people will have 1920×1600 monitors… so we’ll just do anything. I guess it has always been a problem for web development: what kind of user do I design for?

So here’s my question to my readers: What resolutions do you read this site at? Please post in the comments.
