The master plan was for me to come in at 8 and get in 4 hours of good work in before I head out to mercy housing, to do some community service. I took off a little early today, as my cousin is in town, and my aunt had called me up and wanted to give me tickets to a jazz thing that she was going to take my cousin to, but couldn’t because my grandmother was in the ER. Now, I’m kind of scratching my head on the priorities, like, “Why is she still caring about this jazz concert when her mother is in the hospital?” but I said I wasn’t busy and she told me to meet him at this restaurant downtown called “Kuletos.”

Anyway, I drive down there, and I have a fillet and chat it up with my cousin, and for dessert I have panna cotta and he has some kind of semolina shortcake. Now, to the point of this story. I am currently suffering from terrible… well.. lets just say gastric distress, and though it might be a bad fillet ( though it was very tasty), I’m fairly sure that it was the panna cotta. Now… I probably should of asked what it was before ordering it, but it tasted a lot like yogurt, which I generally have no problem with. I shoulda known better.

A search for panna cotta yields:
“Panna cotta is an Italian dessert made by simmering together cream, milk and sugar, mixing this with gelatin, and letting it cool until set. An Italian phrase which literally means “cooked cream”, it generally refers to a creamy, set dessert from the Northern Italian region of Piedmont.”

They should label the stuff asian kryptonite. I sat through the two hour long jazz thing, which was very good, but by the end of it, I knew something was not right in Kansas. I’m not going to fill in the details, as they are quite embarrassing, but needless to say, driving home was a test of will vs body.
