You walk down the street, and you see the meter maid driving down the street with their little tiny single person vehicles, with those two huge raygun looking things on top of the car, and chalking tires as they go.
You ever wonder what those things were? The big ray gun things looking downward at the road, pointed at a 45 degree angle downward?
I took the oportunity to ask one today, and she gave me the grand tour of a police interceptor. I always wondered what those things were; I just always assumed they were lights or something so they can see the chalk in the dark. Turns out they are ultra high tech cameras. The take 12 pictures every second, and look into the car’s computer. It allows them to interface with the police network and keep track of when they checked the car last, and the whether the car has moved or not. They do this by comparing the location of the chalk mark, the background, and the air valve on the tire. It compares between cars by taking a picture of the license plate, and the rims of the car.
In addition to that, it allows them to track the cars of those pesky sexual predators and such. If theres a match between someone’s plates and some known perp’s plates or perhaps the plates of a stolen car, the system alerts the officer. At the end of the the day, the cops know the locations of a huge percentage of cars on the road.
Who knew those innocent looking go carts were so big brother?
Scary stuff. Big Brother is watching you…
